  • What’s Your Shine? by Claudia Beeny, Ph.D (It didn’t resonate with me.)
  • How to Stitch an American Dream by Jenny Doan
  • Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickins (Challenging, but satisfying.)
  • City of Tranquil Light by Bo Caldwell (I loved it.)
  • You Never Know by Tom Selleck (I enjoyed it.)
  • Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere by Savannah Guthrie (Very nice, engaging, well-thought.)
  • The Garner Files by James Garner and Jon Winokur (I enjoyed it.)
  • Forty Autumns by Nina Willner (It reads like a textbook sometimes, but I liked this true story about life behind the Iron Curtain.)
  • The Coddling of the American Mind by Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt (Lots of things to talk about in this one.)
  • Kitchen Table Wisdom: Stories that Heal by Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D. (Vital. Deep. I loved it.)
  • The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey (Good writing and a compelling story.)
  • A Brilliant Night of Stars and Ice by Rebecca Connolly (A good page-turner about the Titanic and its rescuers.)
  • The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion by Jonathan Haidt (Difficult, but important.)
  • Essays of E.B. White (Brilliant. I loved many of these.)
  • A Country Year: Living the Questions by Sue Hubble (It was ok.)
  • A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway (No, thank you.)
  • The Women by Kristin Hannah (Book club. Rough.)

  • My Grandfather’s Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge, and Belonging by Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D. (Nourishing. I loved it.)
  • Misreading Scripture with Individualist Eyes by E. Randolph Richards and Richard James (Good, not a quick read.)
  • Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey (I wish I hadn’t read it.)
  • From Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness, and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life by Arthur C. Brooks (Interesting, a book club selection.)

  • Making Sense of the Doctrine and Covenants: A Guided Tour through Modern Revelations by Steven C. Harper (Thorough, at times poetic, very helpful commentary.)

  • Revelations in Context: The Stories Behind the Sections of the Doctrine and Covenants (A few of these were really, really helpful.)
  • After All We Can Do: Embracing Hope, Grace, and Joy by Dieter F. Uchtdorf
  • Maya Angelou’s Guide to Hope: 50 Simple Ways to Spread Hope (Book club for January. This is literally a list of 50 things, most of them expressed in a couple of words, not really written by Maya Angelou, just inspired by her words.🙄)
