We did this last year in December and loved it. This year I decided to organize a fieldtrip for one of our homeschool clubs. This way, we were able to get in at discount and see our friends.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.angelaross.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/DSC_4008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3129\" title=\"DSC_4008\" src=\"http:\/\/www.angelaross.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/DSC_4008.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.angelaross.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/DSC_4008.jpg 650w, http:\/\/www.angelaross.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/DSC_4008-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When we walked in to the butterfly house, we were immediately aware of the tropical conditions. The cold camera lens fogged up for a while. Its strategy for staying alive is to look like bird dung and when you touch it, it rears its head and shoots out reddish orange tentacles and an odor that will curl your hair (imagine an odor as you note the reddish orange &#8220;tentacles&#8221; on the head).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.angelaross.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/DSC_4005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3135\" title=\"DSC_4005\" src=\"http:\/\/www.angelaross.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/DSC_4005.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.angelaross.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/DSC_4005.jpg 650w, http:\/\/www.angelaross.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/DSC_4005-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">As we finished our visit, a butterfly finally landed on me.
